was March 21. Winter time was ending, summer was starting. Normally this time of year the weather would begin to heat up but not this year. It was still cold and rained a lot. I liked the rain. It was like my melody you know the one that helps you sleep at night? Yes that one. My parents have been arguing so much lately that it's hard for me to think straight. Im always afraid that they'll get so mad at each other one day and just leave. Yes it scares me a lot to hear them screaming at each other from opposite sides of the room. And do you want to know the worst part of it all? They always put me in the middle of it and honestly I'm not big fan when it comes to taking sides!
I was walking home from school today. The weather was cold and windy, but nice and peaceful. I got to the stop light and waited. I pressed the button a few times and waited some more. About 5 minuets passed and the stoplight still didn't let me go. I was about to press it agin when someone started talking to me. "YOU DO KNOW THAT IT'S BROKEN, RIGHT?" said a tall boy with black medium leanth hair and a backpack swung over his shoulders. He had green turquoise eyes that gave me chill and made me smile. "OH UH, NO I DIDN'T KNOW THANKS." I said a bit embarrassed. "ANDREA RIGHT?" he asked. UH ok how did he know me? Did I know him? I was so confused at the moment. "Y-YES. UH HOW DO YOU KNOW MY NAME?"
"YOUR IN MY 6th PERIOD ENGLISH CLASS. IM JAMES; JUST MOVED HERE ABOUT A MONTH AGO." he said. "OH WELL NICE TO MEET YOU JAMES,... SO HOW EXACTLY DO I GET ACROSS THE STREET?" I asked as he looked up and then back at the street. The light was in yellow. He gave a glance at a driver who signaled us to cross. That was easy! Why hadn't I though of that? "THAT'S HOW!" he said flashing a smile that made my cheeks redder than an apple. "BYE" he said turning to his left as he began to walk the street of Aplel Rd. "BYE" I whispered to myself.
When I got home I locked the door and walked to the kitchen. "MOM? DAD?...HELLO?" I said realizing that I was alone. I went to the refrigerator to look for some food when I noticed a letter. I opened it and began reading it out loud. "DEAR ANDREA,
IM WORKING UNTILL 12:00 TONIGHT AND YOUR FATHER DOESN'T COME HOME UNTIL TOMORROW SO I LEFT YOU SOME MONEY ON THE COUNTER IN CASE IF YOU NEED TO BUY SOMETHING. SEE YOU WHEN I GET BACK
I looked up at the clock and it was only 4:30. Great what am I supposed to do for the next couple of hours? I finally decided to go to Allie's house since her family was perfect or almost perfect. At least in my opinion. I put on my white shoes and grabbed my red coat. I got my key and cell phone and left. I was barely half way to Allie's house when it started raining. When I got to Allie's I knocked the door a couple of time then Jason opened the door. "HI ANDREA" he said. "IS ALLIE THERE?" I asked. "EHH SHE JUST LEFT WITH MY MOM." he said apolitical. "OH OK THANKS BYE." I said trying to stay happy.
I had exactly no idea what I was going to do now. So I began to walk home. I took the long way because it's not like I was in a rush or anything after all. I passed by the park and stopped. I sat down at the bench and began to cry. Memories came back to me as I sat there making time pass by. This park was where my family and I used to come when I was a little girl. My thoughts were interrupted by some shouting. " DAD,PLEASE SHUT UP! I DON'T NEED YOU TELLING ME WHAT I DID WRONG." I noticed that voice. It was James that boy I had met a few hours ago... How ironic. "JAMES YOU ARE GOING TO REGRET THIS!" said a man who I'm guessing was his father. "LEAVE NOW!" he said to his father. I guess he did leave because there was no more screaming after that. I tried to cover my face so that he wouldn't notice me. I watched as he walked to the swings and began to cry silently. I also was crying but I didnt get why he was. I kept watching him as he pulled something out of this pocket. At first I couldn't identify what it was but then he pulled it out more. It was a pocket knife. I was afraid of what he was going to do next and really didn't want to know. He rolled his sleeves up and put the point of the knife at the vain of his wrist. "STOP!" I yelled completely exposing myself to him. He dropped the knife on the floor and I quickly closed it up and put it in my pocket. "OKAY WHAT THE HELL WHERE YOU THINKING?!?" I said beginning to cry some more.
"I WAS THINKING THAT MAYBE I WOULDN'T HAVE TO SUFFER ANYMORE" he said crying also. I took a seat on the swing next to him. "AND WHY ARE YOU HERE ANYWAYS?" he said in a rude tone of voice. I told him about how my parents were not getting along and how I planned to got to Allie's. "YOU?" I said waiting for him to share his story. He got up from the swing and started to pace back and forward. " WELL YOU SEE MY FATHER AND I HAVENT BEEN GETTING ALONG LATELY EVER SINCE I UH-.." He began to cry. "SORRY IT'S JUST REALLY HARD FOR ME TO TALK ABOUT." he said making me feel suddenly worried. I didnt even know this him yet somehow I felt we had a connection. "TWO YEARS AGO I GAVE MY DAUGHTER TO HER GRANDPARENTS. NOT MY PARENTS THOW. AND HE JUST THINKS THAT I MADE A BAD DECISION.... I JUST WANT REBECA TO GROW UP HAPPY AND HAVE THE THINGS SHE NEEDS." he said a little more calm now. "IM SORRY JAMES I-I.."
"IT'S OK BECAUSE IM GOING TO BRING HER HOME ONE DAY!" he said very confident. I smiled at him as he smiled back "YOU KNOW IVE BARELY KNOWN YOU FOR ABOUT 4 HOURS AND YOU ALREADY MY NEW BEST FRIEND?" I said making him smile and blush. "THANK YOU" he whispered.
